Synopsis Act I

Scene 1 – The Schoolyard.
Qays falls deeply in love with his classmate Leili. He confesses his feelings, pledging eternal devotion. When their peers discover them together, Leili is taken away. Qays’s parents promise to seek her hand in marriage.

Scene 2.
Their love becomes the talk of the town. Leili’s mother forbids her from returning to school. Majnun’s father proposes marriage but is rejected. Ibn-Salam, another suitor, is accepted, and Leili laments her fate.

Act II

Scene 3 – Ibn-Salam’s House.
Leili is married but remains heartbroken. Majnun, tormented by sorrow, appears near her home. His despair drives him into the desert.

Scene 4 – The Desert.
In the wilderness, Majnun finds solace in his visions of Leili. The warrior Nofel, moved by his story, vows to reunite them by force, but learning that Leili is already married, he ceases the battle.

Scene 5 – Leili’s Death.
Consumed by grief, Leili grows weaker. She admits that as long as her love for Majnun lives, she can never love another. She dies with his image in her heart.

Scene 6 – At Leili’s Grave.
Hearing of her death, Majnun rushes to her grave, mourning bitterly. Overcome with pain, he embraces her tomb and dies, united with his beloved forever.
