Sometimes it is not fate that leads a person to destruction, but their own insatiable desire. Abdurrahim Bey Hagverdiyev’s Peri Jadu moves beyond the framework of classical drama and comes alive on stage through the language of absurd theatre and a symbolic artistic perspective. The performance embodies the pursuit of wealth, the illusion of time, and the spiritual erosion of the human being. Gurban’s attempt to escape poverty, his invisible connection with Peri Jadu, and the human soul crushed beneath the weight of materialism are expressed on stage through powerful visual symbols. The play presents the absurdity of reality, inner chaos, and the absurd through the language of symbols, leaving the audience face to face with the darker layers of human nature.
