Based on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novella "Uncle's Dream", this production is a witty comedy exploring ambition, vanity, and the complexities of moral choice.
The story unfolds in a small provincial town, where Maria Alexandrovna, one of its most influential women, is determined to marry her daughter to a wealthy elderly prince. To achieve her goal, she resorts to a series of clever schemes, but unexpected events soon turn her carefully crafted plans upside down.
As the story progresses, the characters gradually reveal their true nature. Beneath the humorous situations lie human weaknesses, spiritual emptiness, and the pursuit of personal gain. With subtle irony and sharp wit, the play criticizes society's false values and obsession with wealth. It is both entertaining and thought-provoking, inviting audiences to reflect on timeless moral questions.
The production addresses social and ethical issues that remain just as relevant today.
